Households in Greater Hermanus may notice discoloured drinking water.

Discolouration was caused by a problem at the dosing pump during the night (5 November 2023) at the Preekstoel Treatment Works.

The issue has been sorted and the water quality from the plant is back to normal. It will however take a day or two for the colour to clear.

The treated water is still disinfected at the plant and is suitable for human consumption; water may cause laundry stains during washing.
